My Scan Found More or Fewer Pages Than My Store Has

Why the number of pages in your scan can differ from your product count: scan limits, blocked pages, redirects, variant URLs and pagination.

You have 300 products, but your scan says 420 pages. Or 1,500 products and the scan stopped at 1,000. Both are common, and there's almost always a simple reason. Here's how to work out which one applies to you.

Start with Page Health

In Site Health, scroll to Page Health. It shows every address we tried and what happened when we loaded it.

Page Health in Site Health on a laptop with the count of pages blocked by site security, the split of status codes into success, redirects, errors and server errors, and the broken pages on the store.
  1. Blocked by site security. If this number is above zero, a firewall or bot protection stopped some of our requests. Those pages aren't in your report.

  2. Status codes. Pages that loaded fine, pages that redirect somewhere else, broken pages and server errors. Redirects and errors are counted here but aren't scored as normal pages.

  3. Broken pages on your store, with a button to see each address.

Why you might see fewer pages

  • Your scan has a page limit. Quick scans read up to 1,000 pages (500 on the free trial), Standard scans up to 2,000 and Full scans up to 10,000. A big catalog needs a Full scan to be read completely. Your first SEO audit explains the three scan types.

  • Some pages were blocked. Check the blocked count in Page Health. If it's above zero, allow our crawler, QuickifyAppBot, in your firewall or bot protection. Our crawler page has the steps for Shopify, Cloudflare, WordPress and other platforms.

  • Old addresses are counted once. Many stores have old product links that redirect to the same page. We count the page you land on, not every address that leads to it.

  • Hidden, draft or password-protected products aren't public, so we can't see them. Neither can Google.

  • Pages nothing links to and that aren't in your sitemap can't be found by any crawler. If a page should be found, add it to a menu or collection.

Why you might see more pages

  • It's not just products. Collections, blog posts and regular pages like About or Shipping count too.

  • Variant addresses. Many platforms create a separate address for each size or color, like ?variant=123. If your canonical tags point these back to the main product, the Duplicates section of your report tells you they're handled and there's nothing to fix.

  • The same product in several places. On Shopify, a product can be reached at /products/item and also through each collection it belongs to.

  • Page 2, page 3. Collection pages like ?page=2 are normal. We don't flag them as duplicate titles.

Still doesn't add up?

Open the Page Explorer at the bottom of Site Health and click Export CSV. Sorting that list by type usually shows the answer in a minute. If it doesn't, send us a message with your store address, the scan date and the CSV, and we'll look at it with you.
